Grant Overview
Building Networks for Inclusive Community Development
This funding initiative aims to develop strategic networks for community organizations in underrepresented neighborhoods, with a particular focus on BIPOC communities. The program is directed at fostering collaboration that enhances resource sharing, knowledge exchange, and best practice implementations among service providers. Unlike grants targeting direct service delivery, this funding prioritizes collective organizational efforts that improve infrastructure and equity within community development.
For example, a funded project might center around creating an interagency coalition that facilitates access to housing resources for BIPOC individuals experiencing housing insecurity. Such a coalition can share data and expertise among multiple organizations to develop comprehensive strategies that address overlapping issues faced by these communities. Another use case could involve establishing training sessions across organizations to coordinate services effectively, helping to prevent duplication of efforts and streamlining access to job training and educational resources.
Eligible entities include community organizations that actively serve BIPOC neighborhoods and demonstrate a commitment to collaboration. Organizations that do not exhibit a clear methodological approach towards collective impact or that primarily focus on isolated service delivery may not be eligible for funding. For instance, a single-service provider focusing only on food distribution without a plan for collaborative engagement may not meet the grant’s criteria.
When assessing alignment factors, applicants should demonstrate existing relationships with various service providers and outline how their proposed network will address specific community challenges. The emphasis should be on creating systemic solutions that enhance the overall effectiveness of community services and ultimately improve equity for BIPOC communities.
